How can your customers start and end the year successfully? By scouting weeds all season long — before and after applications — to know which weeds are present. Then they can select the right weed control solutions and herbicide tank-mix partners to eliminate those weeds.
Scouting fields regularly and early is critical to catch weed escapes or shifts in weed species. Resistant weeds often appear as patches in fields. Identifying these areas early and controlling them as quickly as possible helps prevent widespread distribution of seeds from the resistant population. If your farmers have identified grasses or tough broadleaves such as pigweed on acres of Enlist™ crops, Andy Carriger, Enlist field specialist, discusses which tank-mix partners to use with Enlist™ herbicides.
For farmers with heavy grass pressure, a tank mix of Enlist One® and Durango® DMA® herbicides applied to Enlist E3® soybeans no later than R2 or full flowering will help give them broad-spectrum grass and broadleaf control. It’s also important to know the herbicide rates when tank-mixing. For Enlist One and Durango DMA herbicides, it is 2 pt./A.
On acres with high pressure of glyphosate-resistant broadleaf weeds, like waterhemp, Palmer amaranth and kochia, we recommend a tank mix of Enlist One and Liberty® herbicides. This tank mix is the most effective and powerful postemergence treatment to control these tough weeds in fields of Enlist E3® soybeans. Apply when weeds are 3 inches or less, but no later than R1 or beginning bloom. For an optimum application, consider tank-mixing with AMS and use the qualified nozzle and corresponding spray pressure.
When weeds emerge and your customers are ready to spray them with the right postemergence herbicide tank mix, ensure they’re using the proper tank-mix sequence. It’s important to follow the correct tank-mix procedures to achieve a successful application of Enlist herbicides. Shawna Hubbard, Corteva Agriscience trait herbicide product manager, runs through a common tank mix and explains why following each step is necessary for good results.
