Your customers have a lot of choices to make each year, and thorough weed management plans are at the top of their list. As they battle tough, resistant weeds like waterhemp or Palmer amaranth, choosing the right trait platform is critical to help enable the best solutions to manage those weeds. Eric Scherder, U.S. crop protection commercial launch leader, Corteva Agriscience, emphasizes the Enlist™ weed control system is a solution built to take down their toughest weed challenges.
“Enlist E3® soybeans and Enlist cotton are tolerant to three postemergence herbicides featuring different sites of action: 2,4-D choline, glyphosate and glufosinate — the active ingredient in Liberty herbicide,” Scherder says. “This allows farmers to use multiple sites of action in one pass.”
If they’re planting Enlist E3® soybeans or PhytoGen W3FE cottonseed with the Enlist™ trait this year and need to control waterhemp or Palmer amaranth, Scherder recommends a postemergence tank mix of Enlist One® and Liberty® herbicides. With this tank mix, farmers can spray on their schedule with no calendar cutoff dates — through R1 on Enlist E3 soybeans and early bloom on Enlist cotton.
“A tank mix of Enlist One and Liberty herbicides is the most effective and powerful postemergence treatment to control weeds like Palmer amaranth, waterhemp and kochia,” Scherder says. “In 2020 trials, we saw this tank mix dominate waterhemp and Palmer amaranth.”
Scherder stresses three important factors to achieve these results:
The flexibility of Enlist One herbicide lets you customize a program approach to weed control. With a tank mix of Enlist One and Liberty herbicides, you get two modes of action working together to tackle the same weed without the concern of acidification in the tank. That means you get powerful weed control without impacting the inherent near-zero volatility of 2,4-D choline in Enlist One herbicide.
Liberty herbicide is the preferred glufosinate of the Enlist weed control system to allow farmers more flexibility and weed control options. For more information on how a tank mix of Enlist One and Liberty herbicides can help kill more weeds, visit Enlist.com and view this fact sheet.
